ABOUT THIS MONTH’S SCREENING
Our Spiritual Cinema Series brings you the Midwest Premiere of a taboo-breaking, intensely-powerful new drama from Israel.
This award-winning film explores a challenging gay love story set in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in Jerusalem.
Aaron, a respectable butcher, is married and a dedicated father of four children. One day, he meets Ezri, a handsome twenty-two year old student, and soon falls in love with him. Swept away by his love and passion for Ezri, but torn by guilt, torment and pressure from the community leads Aaron to make a radical decision.
Join in a post screening discussion of the film’s core issues and themes with community respondents Rabbi Scott White of Congregation Ohev Sholom, therapist Elaine Miezlish, LSCSW and health professional Lee Fenwick. Paul Haughey of Book for the Planet will serve as moderator.
Presented here in association with the Kansas City Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
